Pathway Sunday Lunch THIS SUNDAY

Friends, this Sunday we will be hosting the monthly Pathway Sunday lunch at our house, 1716 Myrtle Street, Jackson, MS 39202. We're planning on chili and baked potatoes, and it looks like (if the weather man is right!), that we'll have perfect weather for it. I'm hearing reports of highs in the mid 50's!

We'll gather right after the 11 o'clock service. If you're coming, please bring a bag of Fritos, drinks, or a dessert to share with everyone. There should be plenty of food so please invite friends to come with you. I'm looking forward to a good time of fellowship.

New Elders at FPC

Thanks to all of you that participated in the elder election. I am pleased to announce that God has been pleased to use your effort to elect ten men to the eldership at FPC. Your willingness to get to know the candidates, pray for them, and exercise your responsibility and privilege in voting for them has done much to serve our church and ensure healthy, godly leadership for another generation. Thank you for voting your conscience in this election.

The following men are the newly elected elders of FPC: Jimmy Armstrong, Bob Cunningham, David Elkin, Ken Fairly, Sam Hensley, Harper Keeler, Richard Russ, Mark Sorgenfrei, Tian Teh, and Ward Toler.

The elder election may be over, but the hard work of ruling, shepherding, and teaching begin for all these men. Please remember them in your prayers as they embark on a lifetime of service as an elder.

Walking the Straight Path of the Lord in the Gospel of Mark

This quarter in the Pathway Sunday school class we are keeping pace with Jesus by giving our attention to his life and ministry in the gospel of Mark. The goal in this study will be to better understand the person and work of Christ, the development of the kingdom of God, and why all that Jesus is and does provides the meaning for our life together as His Church.

This study will focus on big picture gospel themes in Mark and will seek to tie the Scripture together, both OT and NT, so that you can more clearly see the unity of the Bible in the gospel message.

If you have friends who have never been to Sunday school, this would be a great time to invite them. There are lots of new faces with medical school and law school starting up. Plus, many new college graduates moving to the Jackson area to begin work in new jobs. So, spread the word!
