Looking to the New Year
I'm really looking forward to the New Year. Brad, Steve, and I have already been planning new small groups, discussion nights, and events for the New Year. Here's two events in January that I trust will whet your appetite.
- Ladies: You're invited to a conversation on "How am I to Understand Dating and Marriage, Biblically, in a Postmodern World" with Sharon Phillips on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 9:30am at the home of Ashley Hall
- Guys: You're invited to The Mid-South Men's Rally with Richard Phillips, Friday, January 30, 2009 at FPC. A free spaghetti supper will be served at 5:15pm Session 1 begins at 6:30pm and Session 2 at 8:00pm. Make plans now to attend!
There's a lot more to look forward to in '09. Be praying now for our church body, as we look to Christ to launch and lead us in the year to come!
Majoring on the Minors: A Survey of the Minor Prophets
Teachers: Brad Mills & Steve Smith
This winter we'll take a look at each book of the Minor Prophets. There are twelve books in this section of Scripture covering Hosea to Malachi. Each week we will examine one of these prophets with the hopes of seeing three things.- We want to know something of the context in which the prophet lived and proclaimed his message.
- We want to know how each book points to and prepares the way for Jesus Christ.
- We plan to show how this relates to the church today.
"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey."
Zechariah 9:9 (ESV)
